About the Event
If you are a singer with a passion for the Choral Tradition of the Anglican Church you will be familiar with Evensong, the jewel in the crown of cathedrals and greater churches throughout the UK and overseas. We invite singers to join us for this special service, not only part of the Choir Festival but also marking the end of our own Choir Year! It will be a fabulous service, featuring music by John Sanders (Responses based on the ‘Dresden’ Amen) and C.V. Stanford (setting in B flat, and the Te Deum also in the same key).
Did we mention that the Gwent Wind Band will be accompanying us? The service will be conducted by the Band’s director, James Davies, with assistance by Stephen Power on the cathedral’s magnificent organ.
If you would like to sing, please let Stephen Power know as soon as possible (cut off date 19th July), and come along to our rehearsal at 2.30pm.
If you don’t want to sing, but would prefer to marvel at the sound, please come and support this free event (there will be a retiring collection for the cathedral).
