The    Cathedral

Brecon Cathedral started life in 1093 as the Benedictine Priory of St John the Evangelist, built by the Normans on the site of an earlier Celtic church. At the dissolution of the monasteries in 1537 it became Brecon's Parish Church. It became a Cathedral only in 1923, on the establishment of the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon.

There is a pay and display car park at the cathedral. If you would like to reserve a disabled parking bay please let us know.

There is a pay-and-display car park next to the Cathedral and this includes disabled parking and space for two coaches or buses. There are toilets inside the south west entrance to the Cathedral. The north door (from the graveyard) has steps through the porch into the Cathedral. The south west door (accessed from inside the Close) has lift access. There are no other steps in the Cathedral (excepting areas which are normally out of bounds to visitors)

Christ College Brecon

Set within the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Christ College was founded in 1541 by Henry VIII. We are delighted that the chapel at Christ College will host the Friday night concert, as well as Brecon Singers on Saturday lunchtime.

Parking on Friday evening is via the entrance closest to the river.
