About The Event

This event is not a ticketed event but there will be a retiring collection for a local charity.

Evensong is a fusion of the two ancient monastic offices of Vespers and Compline, and therefore part of the continuous prayer of the Church offered daily throughout the world. The service is based heavily on the scriptures, and its canticles, the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and the Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon) from St. Luke’s Gospel, honour the incarnation and the presence of Jesus. The service also includes prayers for the Church and for the world.

The combined Cathedral Choir and Consort will be singing wonderful music by Henry Purcell, with musicians from the Cambrian Consort, led by Paul Brophy.

Whilst this isn’t a ‘come and sing’ event, anyone interested in singing with the choir should contact the Director of Music, Stephen Power, as there may be a limited number of extra places available
