Brecon Choir Festival was set up in 2022 to bring the best of Welsh and emerging choral talent in the world together in the most beautiful of settings. Our founding mission remains the same: to provide festival audiences with unique participation experiences, and to give young and disadvantaged people opportunities which otherwise

would not exist.

As we enter our third year we have ambitious plans for more workshops, commissioning a new piece of music to be premiered at the 2024 Festival and we will be supporting a Come & Sing concert of 'The Armed Man', Karl Jenkins’ famous Mass for peace. After a successful first year in 2023 we are continuing with our Young Singers Award as we seek to unearth the

next generation of Welsh singing talent.

Sponsorship, donations by Benefactors and our Friend’s initiative all help us to develop and thrive; to nurture talent, create community initiatives with lasting impact and to programme unforgettable events at affordable ticket prices.

  • Supporting a talk on the historical context of Henry Vaughan and his connections to Brecon by Associate Professor of Early Modern History, Dr Sarah Ward (UWE, Bristol)

  • Hiring the musicians to accompany a Come & Sing Workshop and concert of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins to be performed as the opening event of the 2024 Festival with Brecon Singers and other choral singers gathered from around Wales

  • Hosting Sea Shanty workshops for members of Brecon Men’s Shed

  • Supporting two soloists to sing at a talk being given by Professor Grahame Davies on The Music of the Coronation - the Welsh Connection this is a fundraising event for the Friends of St Mary’s Church. Grahame wrote the words for the two pieces which will be sung. These are Sacred Fire which was sung at the Coronation with a performance by the great South African soprano Pretty Yende and A Song of Thanksgiving commissioned by His Majesty King Charles III as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Camilla for The Honours of Scotland Service on 5th July 2023 at St Giles Cathedral.
