Communication, Text & Line: Singing Masterclass with Lis Priday

Former Monteverdi Choir soprano Elisabeth Priday will be worked with four young singers from Bute Voices who are developing their singing career. They were taken through their paces focussing on communication, text & line with audience members warmly invited to watch this world-class workshop. The students who took part are all students going into their third year of study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The four of them sing as part of the octet ‘Bute Voices’:

Megan Hastings sang In Trutina by Carl Orff (from Carmina Burana)

Andrew Watt sang Si Tra i Ceppi by Handel (from his opera Berenice)

Izzy Jackson sang quia respexit by J.S Bach (Magnificat)

Jack Irwin sang Quia Fecit Mihi Magna by J.S Bach (Magnificat)

Lis was a member of the Monteverdi Choir for 30 years and a founder member of the Cardiff based Welsh Baroque Soloists. She taught singing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and spent several happy years teaching at Christ College in Brecon. Each August Lis teaches at an international summer school for singing students from Conservatoires all over the world.

Sue Bird is the accompanist for this event. Sue is an experienced teacher in her own field and seeks to create a high energy, inspirational teaching space in which pupils develop exciting and new connections with their repertoire and musicality.
