• Rising choral stars Hemiola presented an evocative programme celebrating the life and work of iconic Welsh priest-poet R.S. Thomas.

• Featuring new commissions inspired by Thomas’ poetry, including works by celebrated Welsh composer Geraint Lewis and rising talent Carwyn Whomsley, a Brecon resident.

• Part of the 2025 Brecon Choir Festival theme, R.S. Thomas: Music, Man, Machine, this unique performance blended music, poetry, and reflection in the stunning Christ College Chapel.

A pre-concert discussion was held before the concert which explored the legacy of Thomas’ poetry for composers, and the relevance of choral music making in the age of The Machine.
